The Big World

With Zinfandel now fully vaccinated she gets to explore. This morning we went on a walk on the golf cart path. Oh my what fun, lots and lots of things to check out and lots of good smells. We also went on a play date. We visited Macie (2.5) and Saddie (1). What fun and now Zinfandel should sleep so Kristi can clean the house and get a pedi. YAY!

More Driving, Vet and Bath

Zinfandel drove with Kristi from MN to CO, yesterday. She did well, but definitely got bored the last few hours. So much energy and so little space. She got her last set of shots, today and a bath. She will get her cape soon and off to the big world beyond the yard!
Really? I was just at the vet and now this?

I think I may be too big for the washtub, now.

Getting the Word Out

Zinfandel couldn't make it to KC for a pretty cool event, a few of the puppy raisers and some of the PITs went to, this past weekend. But we wanted our readers to see the cool pix. So check out PR, Lisa's, blog. (You'll see some familiar faces.)

Brain Games

Zinfandel is one smart cookie and Kristi is worried she's not challenging her enough. So today we tried something new. We put Zinfandel's favorite toys and a set of keys out. She had to down stay, then on release get they keys or the blue toy, (whichever Kristi commanded). Kristi is happy to report she did very well. No picture of progress on "over", because Zinfandel does it so quickly no camera would capture it. LOL! We'll keep working that one.

Growing Up!

Zinfandel lost her first puppy tooth, yesterday. Kristi noticed it was loose in the morning and Lee saw it fall out in the afternoon. The rumor is Chardonnay has lost her first puppy tooth, too. They do grow up fast!

Pretty Quiet

Not a lot has been going on. Just training, playing and enjoying a nice spring in Minnesota. Zinfandel has grown a lot and is learning, daily. She's smart and knows what each command means, but if it's new and she doesn't like it, she gets super stubborn. She was this way with 'give it' and 'down', but has mastered both and does well. But 'over' is a whole other story. We just can't seem to make any progress. Life is better with the vacuum cleaner. We'll see how nail trimming goes this weekend. We wish everyone a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
Being a PIT is hard work and requires a lot of napping!

Zinfandel's paw print in the mud. Yep, she's getting big!

We love early mornings on the front porch.

Zinfandel goes to KC

It's been awhile since we've posted, because we've been on the road again! This is one well traveled pup, thankfully she travels well. Kristi and Zinfandel left on Monday to take Lee's mom back to Kansas City, after spending three weeks in the twin cities area. Zinfandel was more antsy than usual, but did well. We then went to Kristi's brother's house where her sister Chardonnay is being raised. Those two had so much fun, including a romp in the pool. Then on Wednesday we went to a puppy party, where there were six of the wine litter, Clara, Ellie and two from the music litter (who will be two on June 17). Yes, it was just a crazy as you are imagining. But what fun for the PRs and the puppies. Zinfandel and Chardonnay were both worn out by Thursday morning. Zinfandel slept for five hours of the 6.5 hour drive back to Minneapolis. That's a record drive time for Kristi! Thanks to Lisa for hosting the puppy party and sharing all the great photos!

Zinfandel's Week in Minnesota

Zinfandel has had a lot of fun in Minnesota, this week. For one thing it's been much cooler and she likes cooler temperatures. She has met many people and a couple of dogs. She is looking forward to heading to Kansas City, tomorrow, with Kristi and Peg. While in KC she gets to spend a couple of days and nights with Chardonnay. And has a big play date scheduled, with Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Recitio, Clara, Aria and Ellie. We'll post pictures for sure!
You mean you cut all these sticks for me?
Wow, this is a big one, how do I pick it up?
Never mind, I'll just chew on it!
Laying in the shade is soooo cool!

Zinfandel and Peggy catch-up.
Zinfandel loves her big back yard in MN. Here she does a really good 'get it' and 'bring it'.

Zinfandel Likes the End of a Business Week

Well, don't we all. It's usually a time for friends, family and fun. Lee came home from a week long business trip and Zinfandel was very happy to see him. Zinfandel has a very busy social calendar for the weekend. Annie came and played with her Friday afternoon, Howard and Julie came over for Mother's Day Dinner, Friday night. Saturday is a play date with a Golden Retriever and Sunday is the big road trip to Minnesota. I think Zinfandel will enjoy Minnesota, she has been so hot here in Colorado the nice cool 60's will be better.
Annie is a great trainer and Zinfandel learned a lot from her.
Howard and Julie take a picture to compare Zinfandel's growth from last week.

Big Day Wears Zinfandel Out

Zinfandel went to the airport, again, to pick up Paisley, then she went to lunch. She experienced lots of noises and sights, including a wild child and another dog using a doggie walker for his back legs. Then a quick play with Tom in the backyard and off to the vet. She was weighed on the big dog scale, this time, got a shot and some liquid up the snout. She did very well. Then she saw the in-house cat and wanted to say 'hi', I think she remembered him from last week. She saw a big and fairly aggressive dog and decided to say 'hi' from a distance. Back home she was visited by four kids, the first in her house, so a very good experience for her. She got lots of holding, hugging and toy stealing. I think she thought Patrick was a littermate. She really enjoyed playing with him and the three girls. I think she knew the adults were there to see Kristi. Then it was bath time and introduction of a new command, 'stay'. She already seems to get this one! Just wish we could say the same about down and daytime crating.
